Phonic Soup is a fun and simple phonics matching game for children, using the basic phonics alphabet to help them understand and recognise letter forms and the sounds that each letter make. I made this game to help my daughter at school, and to make phonics portable and fun. The game-play is deliberately simple, even for very young learners. Pressing start..starts the game. Difficulty can be increased in the settings, which increases the number of letters that are presented. For level 1, only two letters are presented, perfect for beginners. As the child becomes more accomplished, this can be increased to level 3, where 6 letters are presented. It reinforces learning in a number of ways. Firstly, It s enjoyable! Which is the chief way of maintaining interest. The sounds and animations, not only entertain but help reinforce the learned association of sounds to letter forms by continually repeating the letter and the the sound each letter makes.
Requires iOS 4.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
